nuggets.

Tomorrow we are headed out to the ACC Fanfest in Uptown...should be fun! I'm a huge fan of the ACC...and I love my TIGERS!

In other news, I am just uploading our unedited and raw pictures from our Taiwan and Hong Trip in September of '07. So sad, I know...I had such great intentions of editing them. Oh well...the memories have been captured...enjoy. (p.s. You'll notice our poor jet-lagged faces in these pictures. Priceless).

Not ready to say goodbye.

We have had a wonderful time here in Taiwan...and 8-9 days are just not enough time to see a country. Still, thanks to Rachel and Matt...we have had the amazing opportunity to see much of it.

The past few days have been filled with wonderful babysitting moments with our precious nephew, Micah (see following pictures...pictures have not been edited...and lighting...well...you probably don't care...)

Daniel and I were able to visit the Martyr's Shrine. This is where all of their military generals were buried. So amazing!

We had a great time celebrating Moon Festival with ORTV friends of Rachel & Matt's. We ate moon cakes and more....our tastebuds have been on their toes...and I'm proud to say we have tried a ton of new tastes! Even today, we had lunch at an authentic Thai restaurants with the NPA senior official...and a police officer (Rachel teaches them English). What an honor... (pictures of our meal below)

We were able to visit Danshui and shop in the markets....Danshui is on the water...so lovely. A one foot ice cream cone was in order...Mixed Berry.... We also visited the night market as well (talk about crazy busy...this place was it.. pictures below)

Last, but certainly not least, Daniel and I were able to visit the 2004 tallest building in the world...the 101 building. My husband studied architecture at U of Michigan...and was just in awe of this amazing structure. We went up to the 89 floor in less than 36 seconds. This place is just unbelievable. (pix below)

So...tomorrow morning we begin our journey home. 22 hours. We are sad to leave...but looking foward to sharing our treasures with family and friends.

Till then. Good bye!

Hiking for pleasure?

So I know we promised Hong Kong pictures, but we're going to wait on them until we can do some editing....sorry 'bout that. :)

Today we climbed part of Seven Star mountain with Matt and Rachel, and two of their friends, Daniel and Andrea (who are engaged to be married in February!). We weren't nearly as nimble and in-shape on the mountain as the other 4, but we made it within 200 meters of the top and were told that it counted as getting to the top. So we'll take it. One of the most fun things, was seeing these older Taiwanese adults walking the mountain like it was an escalator.....makes you realize why no one over here is overweight. Americans could learn something.....We had a gentleman serenade us while passing us going down the mountain and telling us he was 60...hence the picture of him ahead of us.

After the hike, we stopped and got some seriously authentic food. Don't even ask, because I don't know the names (though there was some chicken and rice in there!). Candice may be able to remember better....but as long as it tastes good, I don't ask questions.

Since it is the Moon Festival holiday weekend, we are going to a bar-b-que tonight with a number of friends and will likely try some food that we might never try again!

And we had to attach one picture of our sweet nephew.

Good Morning from Taipei, Taiwan.

After 27 hours of traveling, Daniel and I safely made it to Taiwan. (if you are doing that math...we are 12 hours ahead of Eastern/Standard time). The 3 flights (2 layovers) were long...but really just fine. We were impressed with United Airlines.

We made it to Rachel & Matt's house at about 9:30ish...and took a walk around their block. Taiwan is just another world....it's so safe here (crime-wise...you still have to watch out and make sure that you don't get hit by one of the 1000 scooters nearby).

We are headed out to Hong Kong (China) this afternoon...and we will just be on sensory overload, from what I hear...so many more stories and pictures to come.

(the baby is our sweet nephew Micah....the other pictures are random...the one with the umbrella is Daniel and his sister Rachel...)
