Who's the best?
Candice will often refer to me as the "best man I know." Not only does she say this in private to me on an almost daily basis, but she will speak this phrase to family, friends, and most people she meets. I know there are many phenomenal other men out there, but to Candice, I am the best man. The amazing thing to me is that I begin to believe what she says is true. And it slowly begins to change my perception of myself. It makes me want to do more wonderful things for her. And to be that much of a better husband. Not out of obligation, but out of love.
In church yesterday we learned how the way you perceive someone determines the way you receive them. If Candice perceives me as the best man she knows, not only will that spur me to be that man, but she will receive me as that man. If she were to perceive me as a lazy, unmotivated husband, then most likely that's what she'll get. In listening to Pastor Furtick's sermon, it has challenged me to not only assess what I perceive my wife to be, but also the other relationships in my life.
Because at the end of the day, my wife is the best woman I know and will ever know. And she needs to know that and be spoken those words of truth into her life.
